HOLISTIC FORESTS. PAPAYAS AND BANANAS IN THE YOUNG FORESTS FEED THE WILDLIFE

This papaya was grown in the 2010 series of US sponsored RTT integrated holistic forests. The birds recently found it and have begun to feed on the ripe papaya fruit. RTT research forests are tests and demonstrations of innovative designs of carbon-offset forests to meet the needs of its stakeholders. These include US emitters (CO2 capture and long-term storage), farmers whose pastures are reforested (income from selling thinnings), wildlife (food and shelter), workers (jobs and food production), factories (wood from thinnings as raw material), towns (clean steady supplies of water), and the general forest biome. This photo was taken on the 20th of December, 2011 in the Las Delicias Farm in the Atlantic Zone of Costa Rica
