A VIEW ON JUNE 4, 2007 OF SUPERIOR #4 CARBON-OFFSET FOREST JUST AFTER THE LINES OF TREES HAVE BEEN CLEANED
This 1-year, 10-month old forest, a mixture of Klinkii and Mahogany trees, has just been cleaned by the crew of the participating Tournon farm. In the foreground are examples of these two species of fast-growing trees. This is a 3-acre new forest that should sequester about 30 tonnes of CO2 annually for Superior Nut Co. in the 25-year contract signed with this farm. The carbon will remain in the forest stand indefinitely, according to this RTT Model of a sustainable forest. The forest is simultaneously managed for timber production for farm income, thus ensuring sustainability through profitability.
